Get one thing sorted, and another problem crops up….

I worked on a new file yesterday, re-drawing the paint-splashes on a minibus (ref post yesterday).
Now I can’t open it. It seems to be saved OK, has all the right extensions, but SL says ‘error reading file’. I can’t even open it in Corel, cos it’s saved as a CDL file. (hot)
Is the file lost, or is there a way of retrieving it, does anyone know? Please?

    Lorraine

If you want me to try and open it please feel free to send it to me – I think you have my email – you kindly sent me some application instructions.

look for a .BAK in the same directory as the original file.

you may need to make it a .CDL file

Hi, Have you tried importing it instead of opening it.

    Cheers John

happened to me before too Lorraine. Rename your back up file as a cdl file and it may work! 😀

Also sign lab makes a temp file in its own root directory look in there for a remp cdb file, you may be lucky

I’ve seen the advice you were given with respect to line style. Well done.

In addition to the advice you have been given to locate the BAK (backup) file for your design, please try using File >> Import to bring your CDL file into SignLab.

It is not clear to me why you are having problem, and importing the CDL is a possible method for getting around the issue (which appears to be corrupted data when saving to hard drive).

For my reference, would you mind sending me a PM that indicates your dongle number, the version of SignLab and your build level? This may help give me insight into your issue.

    Regards,

Ok everyone, you are all clever cookies, aren’t you. Power to UKSB!
Import-no (sorry John, wouldn’t work). Renamed the BAK file and Bingo!
Thanks everyone for your advice, I’m so glad that I don’t have to start from scratch again. 🙄
Aftre the last few days I owe an even larger number of beer tokens!
