Paul can you swing a saw and a screwdriver ? I make my own A boards, to produce 2 4ft x 2 ft boards costs me about £60 in materials and paint and they take about a morning to put together and look a lot better than these flimsy metal tube ones, more substantial too, don’t fall over in a breeze. I used to buy them from Rotosign but they used to cost about £60 each with delivery and they looked crap after 12 months, rusted like mad. 🙁

    Hi Steve

Yeah i can, but i realy hate working with wood 🙁 now metal is more my game after my apprentiship in toolmaking.

But hmm i can think on this 🙂

    cheers for the idea

what sort of materials do u use?? as £60 on materials seem a bit steep if it’s all made out of wood.

I’ve made them out of 10mm Komacell before. You can get 2 4’x2′ A boards from a standard sheet and they take about half hour each to make. Couple of hinges and some chain. No painting needed as long as you want it in white.

    1$ 2440x1220x9mm exterior mdf £23
    16m 38mm square £15
    16m 25x63mm Ogee architrave £17
plus glue, screws, piano hinge, chain and paint.

Blimey, where do you get ogee architrave from for a quid a metre? Do you make it yourself?

Smashing A board, by the way. Much better than a ready made one. The moulding is a nice finishing touch.
