  • Question about the Weld function in X3

Does the ‘weld function’ shorten a line of text?

I recently re-installed Corel on the cutter computer. Part of the lettering was a contoured word.
I cut the contour and then welded the original word as the letters overlapped, but it was quite a bit short when I went to fit the job on site.
Maybe I should have welded before the contour but I have done this logo loads of time before and I can’t believe that it was just luck that it worked before.
As I said, it never happened me before and I am wondering if it’s a setting somewhere. I’m cutting down the contour ‘carefully’ 🙂 until I get back to the workshop to investigate, as the client needs the van on the road today.

Logo was over a metre long and it was out by over 20mm. Very noticeable but luckily all straight letter forms so I got away with a temporary fix. A trained eye would notice though.

after welding the letters did you alter the size using the transform size information. that info alters when you weld or convert to curves, compared to normal text.

which was the wrong size the contour or the text.

did you cut the contour and the text the same way on the plotter not one down the plotter and the other across.

sure the mouse did not slip
    😉

I’m gonna have to cut it again, so I will note the steps and see.
I don’t normally move it at all, as it is so big, I just highlight it and cut. So a slip of the mouse is an unlikely explanation (how very dare you! 🙂

It’s the text that is out btw.
