  • Question about Price for mini roof

Posted by Cheryl Tissington on 2 January 2007 at 17:52

    Hi there,
could someone give me an idea of the price for fitting a Union Jack to the roof of a classic mini please.

I’ve been asked to quote and I don’t want to be greedy or too low, but need a rough idea of where to pitch.

As I’ve not done one before, I just thought I’d ask the question. 😀

Also, would it be correct to apply the first colour with heat to take the shape of the roof and then lay the rest individually ?

    Any help appreciated, thanks Guys

    Cheers,
    Cheryl 😀

Cheryl, if the roof is not already red white or blue, it may be better to print and apply as a wrap, maybe in the style of BJ’s?
Cost wise, to give you an idea, the new mini union jack supplied as a BMW part costs £99 as vinyl and a little bit more as a print, have a look at the mini web site, http://www.mini.co.uk/UK/index.htm for fitting I would be looking at £80ish

    Hi Rich,
I’m not sure about the colour of the roof. I think I need to change that too. Its a classic mini rather than one of the new BMW’s.

if the roofs are white i normally charge £70 for vinyl and £65/80 for fitting depending on customer or trade
never fitted to a car with out a white roof

to prep and paint a good roof i.e scotch and mask and throw in the oven no repair work
£100 inc paint and materials so i would not see the point of wrapping the roof first

just to add i would be much happier with the end result having the roof painted due to the vinyl going into the roof gutter although the trim on the classic mini is easy to remove I’m not sure how long vinyl would last due to the amount of water that sits in the gutter
I’m sure it can be done with vinyl but not worth the cost and time taken
