has anyone ever painted a pvc banner. if so, with what, does it stay on without peeling, can it be used outside (for example like over the river thames)?

    any help would be appreciated.

paint! it cracks and chips mate.. some may do the trick but long term rolled up then out again.. nah i think your best option is ink..
sericol will have a dealer close to you i would guess..

the ink comes in loads of colours of the shelf or you can have it colour matched!

is it a tricky process or would a pvc vinyl paint work?
would you have a contact for sericol and do you think it would be expensive.

Gibbons Marler in Wimbledon (i personally prefer these guys to sericol)Tel: (020) 8540 4977

Screen colour systems also in Wimbledon

and Keeps in beckenham kent Tel: (020) 8658 7723

It’s not tricky for banners, no!
Its pretty easy actually… what you do is cut the vinyl in stencil form. “Weed letters out of panel”
But you don’t use regular vinyl. Ask for paint mask. It’s dirt-cheap!

A can of the stuff lasts for months and I mean a small can. You get a can and a large can of thinners again from same source. Put a couple of blobs in a tin and some thinners and stir to a runny consistency.
Apply with a 6-inch wide roller a short hair one, not a sponge roller. Dries in a few minutes.

Here are some pics of a banner I did in ink

lorraine, im not sure what the banner is made up of as it was made in america. its a special system for hanging down the sides of large buildings. i think its pvc but not a glossy finish. its quite heavy duty.
    what ink/materials would you recommend.

bob, thanks for the reply. unfortunately it has welded loops on the back and will not lay flat. i dont think it will fit on a machine. although i ‘m not quite sure how large format printers work.

cheers rob, because of the size of each letter,it might be easier for me to mask it with tape and paper. would the thinners melt the tape do you think?

If you want to save some time and hassle I can give you a number of a traditional poster writer who could do this for you Tony?
