  • Producing a bevel in X5

Posted by Tim Cockings on 18 August 2010 at 18:47

Whenever I produce text in X5 and then try to bevel it, the file reverts from a 1.3Mb to a 10Kb file. The result is that i can’t export to Versaworks for printing. When i try to open the file it then reverts to an untitled file. Very confusing.

Anybody come across this problem before?

Have tried converting it to a bitmap now but still won’t have it. Versaworks is telling me it is an unsupported file.

    how are you "beveling" it

i’m going to effects, then bevel, applying the bevel and thats when it all goes wrong Peter.

Have tried it in vector format and because that didn’t work converted it into bitmaps. That didn’t work either. For some reason Versaworks isn’t recognising it as a file.

I’m taking my laptop in this morning which is running X3 just to see if that will work.

I’ll let you know the outcome of course a bit later.

Have had a go on the X3 laptop this morning and i think there is a memory issue here. Even that one struggled to cope with the bevels and in fact i can’t even get the colours right on the X3 set-up.

Oddly i am now printing the bevels from the X5 pc. the file i am using is the one i converted to a bitmap in order to get the memory usage down to below 10 Mb.

I still think there are some inherent issues with X5 as it seems to crash much more frequently than X3 ever did. SP1 has been downloaded but still some silly teething problems occur along the way.

Peter thank you for coming to my aid.

I didnt really help, I am no corel expert, but thought the question may have given others a better idea of what you were doing, so they could answer better than I

Just the fact that you were there was enough to think, "well at least someone is there for moral support if nothing else".

Thank you for that at least Peter

    And of course issue resolved.

    Cheers
