  • Problems getting CM500 to cut – anyone advise ?

    Hi,

Today have been unsuccessful in getting my CM500 to cut from Corel Draw X3.

I am using Co-cut Standard (free 30day trial) and / or Sign Tools 3 (only 23 goes left of trial 😕 ) but as yet all i can see is in the print queues these jobs have "error"

    I’ve set :
    Bits per second : 9600
    Data bits: 8
    Parity: None
    Stop bits: 1
    Flow Control: Hardware

I have downloaded the Roland CM500 drivers, and i have the pc connected to the plotter via a serial cable through COM1.

Only thing i can think of is the serial cable is not a Roland, but as it’s the weekend no chance of changing that so is it just a case of having to wait and hope its the cable ?

bit stuck at the moment – appreciate any advice, putting a bit of a downer on an otherwise Sunny weekend 😥

i would connect via printer lpt port with a standard printer cable, and use the roland printer driver straight from corel.
the only command i can think off that you will lose is the ability to poll the plotter.

the serial cable has to be wired as in the back of the hand book, others will not work.

Chris, is that something that is unique to Rolland? I was going to say that the serial cable shouldn’t make a difference as I run my Graphtec on a 5mtr extension cable that I bought from a computer shop but i’m glad I didn’t now !!!!

    SUCCESS !

i went out to a PC store and made sure about the NULL MODEM seriel cable…

they thought i was nuts.. i kept on asking "are you SURE it’s a null one" :lol1:

came back connected up – did a test cut – WHAM… first time !

so yes it does make a hell of a lot of difference regarding the cable – at least on Rolands …

just need to tweak a few things but at least I’m now cutting !…

ps. Sign tools seems so much easier to use than Co-cut so far…

    well done good move

martin not all cable manufactures connected all the required pins for plotters only for the nul modem rules so some did work ok some didnt,

a very long time ago i used to have to make them cos the real ones were very expensive.
