have been sent some images to cut from customer on inspection in wireframe (corel) the images seem to be split with loads of vertical lines which will cut as lines
any ideas as it is going to take ages to weld them all it came in as a.i file but could only open up in corel had to then save as a.i and open in ilustrator then drop it down to version 3 so it could open in c.s
so i could send out to colleague for more work any body want to see the file let me know

I have seen this happen before when bringing illustrator files into Corel. Can’t you select everything and just weld in one shot?

Hard to tell with out seeing the file.

    Can you post the file?

I get it the other way round. Importing Corel files into Illustrator will, nine times out of ten, give me the slices.

If you would like to post it up I will see if it opens cleanly in CS2 on a Mac. You never know your luck! 😀

It depends on how its drawn, most “designers” draw for printed output. not for vinyl. so the layers are not important in the final output.
Most of the time its not the file, its just the way its been drawn.

Dex, just had a little play with it…to get rid of the cut lines you have to select the bit you want and then just weld it together……
worked on the 2 bits of graphic i tried

    hope this helps

This is a common problem. One cure I have found (although I doubt it works every time) is to remove all strokes or fills from stuff before exporting; alternatively, export as a lower version of ai. I always use ver 1.00 ai. You’ve got some serious welding to do! Even then, you may have problems welding if the shapes aren’t overlapping.

We should all go back to using brushes!
