  • Problem with Signlab not printing landscape

Posted by Stephen Morriss on 18 June 2010 at 09:21

    Hi

I’m using signlab version 8 rev 1, I think this is the latest.
When ever I try to print out the design to a printer or pdf printer it will not print landscape.
It’ll export to pdf fine but that’s just a selection and I find it a bit of a pain having to export a pdf and then printing it.
Does this happen to anyone else or just me?

It is a legal and registered copy as well before anyone comes up with that one.

    Hi Lynn

Yes I’m on about paper copies for customers or for reference when fitting the vinyl.
It worked fine before the last Signlabs update but has never worked since!

    Hi Lynn

Yes that’s what I’m having to do now, I’m selecting the artwork and exporting as a pdf file and then printing the pdf from acrobat reader.

My problem is printing within signlabs. Select the artwork to be printed, file-print, preview after setting up the printer to landscape, most side views of vehicles fit best on landscape, preview is fine showing landscape.
I then click print and the print comes out 90 degrees to the paper so half of it is missing.

Thanks for checking Lynn, this has been a little niggle for a few months since updating signlabs.
They sorted the usb cutter problem pretty fast as it must have effected a few people but this one seems to just be me 😕

I have similar problems with SL, printing landscape and printing to Cute for a pdf turns everything upside down, never got to the bottom of it but the problem seems to be with postscript devices. I have no problem with my HP Laserjet which has a non postscript driver

I keep my version up to date and as Lynn has said, the printer controls whether it prints landscape or portrait, and it always has.

Just the same with mine Steve, I have to set the printer to landscape or portrait in the printer setup and then I can preview it in signlabs before printing, you can do the fit to page etc there.
However when I print it always comes out printed as if it was fitting to the portrait mode so half the image is missing and is 90degrees to the preview.
No problems with portrait mode though.

Alan I always print to the postscript driver on my laser printer so I’ll try the windows driver.

    Thanks

No difference whether I use the PCL driver or the PS driver for my laser printer.

As I said it never used to be a problem, just since the last update, strange, I suppose I should get in touch with Cadlink but I’m about to go on holiday for a few days so it can wait until I’m back.

As I said in an earlier reply, I’ve not experienced any problem with printing until last week. Unusually I printed more than one copy of a layout from SL and it decided to overide the Epson setting and turn everything round, but it only does it if I print multiple copies.
Evidently Cadlink know about it, but there isn’t a fix as yet.

I’ve not tried it with one copy, I’ll give it a go now.
I always print 2 copies, customer and file copy.

Well I just tried it and it prints landscape no problem with 1 copy but 2 or more it turns it all round.

All I hope is that this bug isn’t fixed in the next release that I then need to pay for!

I talked to out printing programmer and QA guy.
The bug was found and fixed and will be in a patch that will be available on our web site in a few days.
