Alison sometimes gets private phonecalls on our business line. Usually it’s just someone phoning for a lengthy gossip.

Now, I don’t have a problem with that, but the phone line gets tied up for half an hour or so whilst the cackling goes on preventing any legitimate business calls from coming through.

We have a fax number that never gets used anymore and I keep telling her to tell her callers to phone on that number instead but she thinks I’m being unreasonable. :nag2:

What would you do in my situation?

If putting your foot down doesn’t work!!!

You can get a divert service so when the line is engaged it will transfer the phone call to the fax line.

    Hope that helps

Don’t you just hate it when someone comes up with a perfectly good idea that saves grief all round

Thanks Martin. That sounds like a good idea. Any idea how I go about setting this up? We’re with BT?

It’ll also be handy for when I want to gossip to someone 😕

There is a small charge for this service and you need to book it with BT. Once done, To divert calls when your phone is engaged dial: *67*(phone number you want to divert to)#
Works for me as I divert to my mobile when I’m out and about.
