    hi,

I’m going to see one of my customers on thursday or Friday, with regards to his query about printing some boards,

can those of you who do it, please tell me what can and can’t be printed onto, ie foamboard, dibond, etc,

how does the price compare to applying a print to the board ?

i’m not quite sure of the request yet, but to be fore-armed wouldn’t hurt my pitch !

    thanks in advance.

hey oop Jeff, long time no.. !

the kind of board i’m talking about is prob 5mm min, in large sheets, thanks though ! it’ll prob need to be done on a flatbed UV printer if i recall !

As far as UV printing goes, you can just about print onto anything flat with it. Not too many small firms running UV flatbeds due to their cost so you may have to shop around to find one.
if you use UV supplier you "wont" need it laminated.

for those without a flat bed, they will print directly to a digital vinyl and mount onto a board. i would not advise foamex and lean more towards the likes of dibond, however, if its interior work like exhibitons or in shops then no reason not to really…

i would also advise to laminate to give a nice gloss finish and to protect against abrasion damage. wipes easy and lasts much longer…
again, if this in interior work, you will get away without lamination… but i still do it anyway…

you could try trade suppliers for flatbed print prices. raccoon digital, trade brigade etc

thanks for that Rob, food for thought. i guess it’ll end up going the lam/print onto dibond, it’s going in an undercover (warehouse type ) car lot, i just wanted a price comparisson really on the print vs uv to substrate, if the price was similar, i’d save the work and go with the uv !

    cheers again.
