Hi all I’m hoping someone may be able to help Ive just replace a head in my sp 540 the reason being is it was leaving spatter when printing black ink , so Ive replaced the head and now it prints great apart from when i have now come to print black text onto a background colour either red or yellow i.e. when it is printing from both print heads, its leaving about a half a mm of white which makes it look like a drop shadow on, effectively looks like the print heads are out of sink, i done what i can as far as bi directional print setup but I’m lost now and to make maters worse i live on the isle of man and there is no engineers that are on island any help would be fantastic ,

    Regards
    Kev

in service mode are 2 set ups for two adjuster screws
1, to set for skew it prints a test you adjust till correct.
2 to set the for and aft position prints a test you adjust to suit.
then the knife has to be set to the new black head position also the knife to reg marks.

the head mounting screws are delicate and must be treated with care.

without a manual you will struggle doing these sort of jobs.

Thanks Chris i unfortunately don’t have a service manual so things are going to be a bit of a struggle by the sounds of it as always its right when you don’t need it to happen ,

Not quite on topic but was it a relatively easy job to do Kevin?

Reason I’m asking is I may have to do mine soon and was wondering about the alignment.
