  • Printing Photos/Logos onto T-Shirts etc – Query

Posted by JaneGaul on 1 June 2005 at 15:30

    Hello All

We are looking for any suggestions for a supplier of suitable ink jet paper for printing full colour logos to be transferred to t-shirts, etc. Currently we use Xpres Ultragraphics A4 paper, which is like a very thin fine white vinyl, which we print onto using a normal ink jet printer and Corel software, and then it is placed into our cutter (a Roland CAMM-1 CX-24) which cuts round it using the contour lines we make on the software. From that it is pressed onto the garment using our heat press.

However, Xpres have recently changed their paper (new improved!) which now costs £120 + VAT a box, and we are having so many problems printing onto it, and Xpres are not sure why it is. The paper is curling, getting loads of smudges on it, the contour lines are shadowing which makes it impossible for the cutter to cut, etc, etc. But we had absolutely no problems at all with their old paper (no longer stocked).

Does anyone have any suggestions? We also do sublimation printing, but lots of our customers (we do one offs) want something like a photo printed onto a coloured t-shirt, or colour logo onto a coloured t-shirt.

    Any help gratefully received!

    Many thanks

    Jane

Hi, you could also try sublimation printing onto subli flock and then contour cut and press to coloured shirts. Or you could use a vinyl that you can layer for doing 2/3 colour logos.

    Hi,

If it is just regular Ink Jet ink you are using you could try the Xp3133 Dark Jet paper……

Its very similar to the old Ink Jet Dark paper

I am looking to get involved with t shirts etc but dont want to spend too much initially, just to ensure its worthwhile.

I read with interest the way you go about it, I also use corel, roland camm1, but not sure how you produce the contour lines with the software for cutting, would you mind sharing this info with me please.

Preferably in the simplest way possible, not the most computer literate guy

    Thanks

Just a thought, I have 3 boxes of subli flock, that aren’t worth a flock!

The rep that delivered and installed my setup, showed us how to use subli flock, albeit that it took him 7 goes to get it to contour cut correctly.

The amount of waste was incredible, we have been in contact with 3 other suppliers here who have all had the same problems, and like ourselves have even returned it to be tested.

We need to send 4 samples, the first 3 where misplaced…. be careful when you dip your toe in this, it simply is not worth the waste or cost

Have you spoken with merlin? or magic touch?

    Just my own opinons
