Posted by Steve Morgan on 16 November 2010 at 09:53Can anyone recommend a silver metallic that can be solvent printed? Is there even such a material?

Thanks for the answers but all these seem to be the ‘chrome’ type material not just silver metallic.

Hey Steve
I regularly print onto Oracal 551 metallic silver with eco-solvent inks. Works really well, blacks are dark and colours get a metallic look to them – looks really good with a gloss laminate too…
Equal success with Metamark M7 silver.Cheers

Same here Quentin, I use 551 silver all the time with solvent inks. Solid Blacks, and the colours come through as metalic. Looks great in the sun

Oh brilliant thanks I use 551 and 751, It’s not so much knowing that the ink goes on, it’s knowing that it’ll last. I will be laminating it anyway.

avoid 751 Steve, as it often has a film over the surface. You’ll need to clean it with metho first. 551 is straight out of the box though

Hi Steve, we print onto Avery 835 silver metallic and have never had any complaint, we then laminate it.
Havent printed on to it and then not laminated so dont know how it would be long term unlaminated!

I found the avery only really worked with Black, i had roast the vinyl for colours but black settled well enough for small text
i don’t reconmended it for big prints

Thanks Dave, this is only going to be black on silver anyway and only 350mm or so in diameter.
