  • Printing onto cloth help required.

Posted by Denise Goodfellow on 12 March 2012 at 19:12

    Hi everyone.

My stepson is into music, hence we get quite a few requests for band stuff.

We have been asked for backdrop designs, normally we do these in banner material and all is well, but this customer wants cloth.

Has anyone printed onto cloth with good results. What/where did you get the material from?

We did try many moons ago and failed miserably.

Any help greatly received. We have a mimaki printer.

    Hi Denise,
we printed a few backdrops onto cloth. We have a roland but i am sure your machine will do it. We used the sailcloth (spinnaker) material that used to be sold by hexis. I now by it direct from the factory in france. See if hexis can give you a sample to try, if not i will dig out the contacts in france.
The print quality on a roland is superb!

Dynajet is the name of the product. (in case you need to google it)

The other cloth we have used is IP2313 from spandex, more expensive but it also prints very well and that one might be easier to source in uk.

    goodluck

    Hi Denise,
We print onto cotton which is coated on one side all the time with our Mimaki, and the print quality is just like printing onto vinyl. It’s used like a cheap big canvas and stretched around a big frame (5m+) for the backdrop for conferences etc. We get it from a local supplier called Greenworld near Northolt, west London, but most of the major suppliers will do something similar. It’s usually classed as a cheap canvas material. I hope this is what you mean by cloth!
