    Depending on the size;
    1) sublimation printing may also be considered
    2) or some other special heat transfer application, as shown here: http://www.iccink.com/forever/videos/1/33.wmv

Or, just a regular "clear sticker" printed in a solvent ink printer?

Ive never seen a mirror you can sublimate due to the fact is has to have a polyester coating to accept the ink.
The mirror transfer thing looks ok though.
Wouldnt know where to get them here mind.

I think that subli-nation sells marble tiles you can dye sub onto, I’ve never tried them but heard they are great. The only mirrors I have seen that can be sublimated on are the handbag mirrors you can import from china and I think that it is the outer covering that is dye subbed.

You can get tiles, and also see through glass tiles to sublimate onto.
you dye the white underside and the image shows through the glass
I have some in the shop I am doing a design for, I just need a photo of a guy under some ice now.

    Hi Peter,

It is possible to print onto glass with a flatbed UV Vutek machine, we have one and pretty much anything up to 5cm thick is possible.

The glass is usually primed prior to printing and this reduces the surface tension of the substrate and allows the ink to ‘key’.

You mentioned marble in your original post. When I was attending the training course for operation of our machine my instructor was telling me he has a client who uses the same machine to do just that so it’s definitely possible.

    I hope this helps.

    as another option peter…
Grafityp have an great UV flat bed. i watched it print directly to a table saw Cutting blade!

ide maybe give Nigel a call, peter. ask for a bit of info on this. he could probably tell you someone that is using the machine and if it has the capabilities to print direct to glass. I’m sure, even if like mark says it needs primed, the machine should be able to do it.

Most flatbeds with the capability of laying down a white then the colours would do it, Inca Spyder, Spuhl Virtu to name two. Only trouble is finding one… we are probably getting a Spyder but not until the New Year.

    Thanks Matt,
but I am looking for larger format 1200×1200 or there abouts, I did have a talk with Mr Pugh, he asked his customer with a flatbed but they dont do it for fear of the glass breaking.
