    Hi guys,

ive seen some good work printed on frosted etch and wondering how you go about doing it.
The graphics i have seen had a printed pattern within the frosted but looked just like a different tone of frosted (if that makes sense) so it was very subtle.
Secondly how do things look if you print full colour onto the frosted?

    Thanks

Office I just did last week. It tones it down. I always print a sample and get it signed off by the client.

yes i agree with Andrew, it does lose vibrancy when printed onto. sometimes darkening the image down a bit, or raising the contrast a little when printing helps because it is transparent and can look washed out when the light is behind it. that said, its "not" supposed to be like a full colour print, it does look best being subtle, but still, it sometimes needs a little tweak in the artwork before printing.

That looks really good andrew. So its a bit of trial and error to get the colours right.

Can you use any frosted to print onto? My usual is Avery crystal glass.

With regards to the light frosted pattern that i described in my opening post, am i right in thinking this is a light grey print with maybe low opacity to create the effect?.
How does it laminate if its needed for outside? obviously matt lam im assuming.

Thanks for the info, i have a roll of avery here which i will do some testing on.

I did this frosted job last week, exactly wohat the customer requested and it looked good. I just had a feeling it could have looked more interesting if it was printed directly. Also from the inside i dont like the fact you can see the solid colour backing of the text.

if you need it vibrant reverse print on clear and back up with frost then fit on the inside, always a good result
