Printing keeps stopping due to network
Hi all. Be grateful if anyone has had this issue or is a computer wizard.
I run my printer via the network. I have 3 computers connected to it. My rip computer opens files via the network and then i print.
The problem i have is often during print, my network or network computer loses connection. Only for minute or so then it connects but during this time my rip errors my file and the printer stops.
To get over this during the last few days, i open my files then remove the network ethernet and connect my printer direct. No problems. Obviously this is a pain. Any ideas? Would be a simple fix if my computer had more than 1 ethernet connection.

Not an expert but, it sounds like you are ripping over the network. We copy all files to the local machine (with the rip installed) and then print from there. Also this machine is used solely for printing to avoid conflicts.
This way the network is only really performing one job. Also, does your Rip print as it rips or rip then print. Ripping before print reduces the strain on the network too.
Like I say, not an expert but it sounds like you may be asking a bit much of your set up

This computer is also solely used to print but yes its ripping over the network (opening file from another network computer). Onyx rips the file before printing.
It seems the rip is continuosly sending data as its printing, and as network loses connection causes this error.

See if your RIP PC has a static IP address, as this should help. Onyx
does send data continuously, so if the connection fails, the printer
will stop.-
I will check that tomorrow but im 90% sure it has as i remember assigning IP addresses to all network computer. I be honest, i havnt got much of a clue when it comes to stuff like this. I managed to set my network through trial and error over a morning but i dont remember how i did any of it 🤓. Do you guys tend to just get someone in to sort this stuff out? or tackle it yourselfs?
My fear is if i hire someone, the first words i will hear is “oh this is no good/too old, you need this that and the other” before i know it im thousands down with all the latest singing and dancing which i didnt really need.
