Printing internal window stickers

Morning all

I can’t believe I have never done these before but whats the best way to print and cut window stickers so the graphic is facing out?

I’ve done large graphics before and I printed onto clear and then applied white film over the top so the adhesive on the clear vinyl stuck to the window. I then cut it manually but it wasn’t the easiest to see.

I now need to print lots of little stickers about A5 size and can’t work out how to cut them seeing as I’ll have no registration marks.

Hi Han, Print the job as you usualyl would with cutlines and reg marks but mirror it and print onto clear as you said. Laminate with white, remove white vinyl from reg marks (so plotter can scan) and then cut as you normally would

Any technique in removing the white vinyl from the reg marks?

I didn’t do many stickers like this but I used Martyn’s method too and laid a piece of backing paper on top of the registration mark, silicone face up, then cut it out by hand.That’s easy of course if you only have 4 marks per sheet of stickers

We do quite a lot of these. Our method is to have a roll of matt white slit down to 1290mm, then reverse print onto clear, with enough room between the reg marks to take the 1290mm wide white material. This way, the marks don’t get covered up, and it makes it much easier for plotting.

Jamie, if you’re getting the material cut down to 1290mm, are you printing at 1370?

I’d like to take full advantage of the width of the printer which is 1600mm but stupidly enough I only got a 1520mm laminator (damn thing was named 1600 and I never checked) so I have to go with that.

  Yes, we print on 1370mm material. You just need to make sure that your print area is smaller the 1290 wide material, and that your reg marks are outside the 1290 width.

Place your white laminated vinyl over a light source and trace the reg marks using a black pen of the correct nib thickness. Or if you dont trust yourself with a pen, print out a set of 4 reg marks, cut them out, and stick them in the exact position, again using a light source behind.
