Can anyone recommend a good garment film to print from my cadet and then heat press it to my own shirts. I’ve just done my first ever shirt using Victory HotPrint but found when I contour cut the print the image immediately lifted at all the edges making it very difficult to apply app tape.

Is this a common thing or is there a garment film that behaves just like normal vinyl when cut?

    thanks

    Hi Stuart

Call Victory on 01246 570 570 and ask to speak with Glynn.

He is their expert on garment films and he is always very helpful.

xpress do various films. you could give them a buzz and i am sure they will advise.
it maybe your cutting too soon after printing. in the settings if your using troop you can set the machine to print then pause for say 1 minute or whatevere then start cutting. gives the ink more time to dry before curling back.
i think rodney has mentioned somthing about small decals curling back, but ide have thought you would have plenty time to apply to a garment before this happens if it is alsready dry before it contour cuts. i could be wrong though… 😕

Thanks for all your advise people.

I don’t think its the printing thats making it curl back. Its even curling back on the whole edge of the vinyl where it hasn.t been printed or cut. Victory recommended printing it first, then apply app tape and then put it back through and contour cut it but I’m very new to the cadet and wouldn’t fancy doing it that way.

It isn’t just that the curling is causing a problem applying app tape, its also wasting more material than I’m using. When I cut it off the machine the whole front edge curls back to where the media rollers are – wasting 4 or 5 inches each time I make anything.

Can anyone recommend a specific material to use?

😮 Hello there, victory hot print is a nightmare on a good day … Xpress do a colour cut which we use on a cadet and it does the job 100%

Find nothing wrong with Hot print its the thinnest of them all as far as I am aware and it tells you it will curl back on you but I find that its the weed part that curls back anyway
I use a PC600 though and I think this stuff is foor thermal anyway but I ain’t 100% sure of this.
Find it does a great job.
