I am looking to buy a printer that will compliment my Summa D60 SE plotter. I really do not need a print/cut capability because I can just cut the graphic on the D60 plotter. What I am really looking for is a printer that will produce the same size graphics as the plotter in a super quality (no banding) solvent ink printed on Vinyl. Since I am working at home I really do not want a large expensive machine but I do want something that will handle the widest prints my plotter can handle and I want super color. For lack of a better idea I am considering the Roland SPV-300. We have one at work and the color is good. The thing that bothers me is that it comes from Roland (high maintenance) and it is to big. Does anyone know of a printer that will print solvent ink on Vinyl with a foot print the size of the Summa D60 and a reasonable cost?

Not that well up on solvent printers myself but you will probably find the reason no one answered your first post was because there isn’t such a printer on the market, most of the printers use the same sort of technology so they all tend to be the same sort of size so finding one that had a much smaller footprint at the same sort of price is very unlikely. As for maintenance I think you will find that most solvent printers will have a higher maintenance level than other types of printer due to the nature of the inks.

The Roland VP series is a fair bit smaller and lighter than the SP series. Might want to look into it.
