We have been having some hot discussions at work between production and controllers on how to calculate printer speeds for pricing. I prefer to keep it simple by having an average. For example our 3 x roll to roll UV printers that are different generations and manufactures by using a Quality a Production and Fast speed to cover the printers different capabilitys.
The controllers want it to be based on materials so 1 material could have 3 speeds and per printer, so 9 price levels for 1 material. For me this is over complicated and means I loose the flexibility in moving jobs to the printer that best suited for the actual print.

Am I being too simple or is there another way.

Also is it better to calculate sqm or Lpm

Answers on a postcard 😉 Thanks

We used to price on a £ Sq/M, however since moving to Clarity (or signVOX as other are using) this works our running time, ink etc. It seems pretty accurate.
