  • print heads had it ?

    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me find an answer to my printer head problem.

Today i started up the machine as usual and printed off some stickers which went through fine. The next batch i did had a "what i call" mist" trailing on both the left, right and upper side of the black areas in the print.

I did a manual clean with flush, cleaned both docking bays and wipers which did have an amount of ink on them but after cleaning were spotless.

I then did aCMYK test print which again had this mist. So i then did a porwefull clean and this problem as continued right up intill i left this evening. Here are a couple of images of both the "mist" and test prints i did.

Hope someone can help me here (!)

not a good test print a lot of defection,
the misting i have had before and put it down to static build up after a different type of vinyl being used.
i would ground the chassis out and do some prints , if the misting has gone then set about the heads.
    what inks are you using

    Hello,

Im using a Hexis print media. I didnt think the test print was good, The printer had been sat dormant for almost 10 months as the business i have bought was closed from the end of last year up untill august this year.

An engineer did look at the printer when the sale went through and lucky for us the printer was working in reasonable order but today/yesterday it just started to play up. Ill try the ideas that are above as i am using new print media and see if that works.

Im using what inks were there when we took over which are victory eco-solvent ones.

    Thanks 🙂

Looks like the nozzles could do with a good soak and clean. The misting looks like static on your media as Chris has said. Can be a problem with a very dry printing room, particularly if you wipe down your media before printing.

a length of wire touch the metal chassis and the water pipe.
i think you can wire one to the earth of a mains plug and touch the chassis it does not need to be permanent.

Iv’e just printed on some different media and the print is coming out the same as it was using the new media. So im guessing its not the static problem ? (!)

I have forgotten to mention that before the printer went all squew wiff on me i had just topped up the inks.

Im just wondering if this might be part of the problem ?

You need to do some powerful cleans on it to get the heads clean and some fresh ink into the heads. After a while it may need some parts, at least be sure it is pumping properly. If it has been standing a while with Activasol in it, the ink will be slightly blocking the heads. Also putting some print through it should help flush it through. Failing all this, invest in a service for it and have it sorted and making money for you

Just realised your in the Roland forum………….scratch the comment on Activasol. Give the machine a good clean, powerful clean. If that doesnt sort it, get an engineer to look it over, that should sve a lot of time and get it earning money for you

Sounds like you may have over filled the carts. They should be no more than 1/4 full at max.

Had the Printer Converted back to Roland inks so all better now. 2 new heads, pump and all the trimmings for a mere £1,300
