    Hello,
I have just ordered a solvent printer and will be using a separate cutter. I am now looking into purchasing a decent sign program. Flexi sign seems to be a good choice – especially the print and cut version.

How does this work in practice? will any cutter with opus or something similar read the registration marks that the software produces on the print outs?

Or is there some better software? I don’t really want to lay out 2k on something i know nothing about.

Like Chris says, do you really need new software? Both Flexi and sign lab are very good programs for the sign industry but there seem to be a lot of people on the boards doing a very good job with printers using much more cost effective programs. What software are you using at the moment because if you are going to change it means learning how to use another program which can be a very time consuming exercise.

    hello,
At the moment all i am using is Adobe illustrator and the the win cut plug in. For some reason i don’t seem to get consistent results with the current software. For example it seems to be shrinking the text down by around 33%.

Also the opus registration marks can cause problems- I just felt that perhaps my software was causing the problems and that replacing it would elp.

There are quite a few people on the boards that use illustrator, it seems to be a decent program even though it was not designed specifically for the sign industry, I wouldn’t think the problem is with the software as I am sure I would have read a lot more posts from people who were having problems with cutting from illustrator. Is the plug in you use to plot the right one for illustrator? sorry don’t use the software you do so can’t help much but I am almost certain it won’t be a problem with the software.

should be ok with that unless you want to change.

33% difference rings a bell how do you measure text does it do the same to known size box and what printer you ordered.

Sorry I don’t know your name but if I were you I would start another post and ask if anyone can help with the problems you are having plotting graphics from illustrator. As I said in my earlier post the software should be fine for what you want to do and changing the software won’t necessarily sort out your problems plotting.
