Hi guys i’m having some problems when doing normal print and cuts, my cutting is not miles off but still enough to give me problems on labels and decals contour cuts, often leaving white edges, i think its a blend of my media sightly slipping and my cut alignment maybe being off, i’m using 3 pinch rollers could anybody give me some tips on how to fix my problems ?

    Thanks Danny

have you tried running smaller batches of stickers?
i.e. so it is not a long run to track straight printing then to revert back to origin point and cut.

it maybe as simple as your not aligning your media straight enough to track over a metre or so.

also try cleaning your pinch/roller wheels with isopropynol.
they can pick up a film from the media over time or even ink from prints making it skew when tracking.

also check the carriage that holds the blade isn’t loose or has any play in it.

just some of the quick fix things to rule out.

Hi normally i’m still getting problems at around 1m making me think it could both things i have suggested but i will clean the pinch rollers, as sometimes i do notice the media has slipped , the media is allways loaded straight because i perform a sheet after my last cut so when i load the media again it has straight cut to line up

is it something that’s just started then or has it always been this way?

Are you pulling some media off the roll before printing to ensure the rollers aren’t pulling at a large roll of media.

Don’t forget to perform an environmental match on your machine and ensure the encoder strip is clean. A build up of ink on the pinch rollers can also cause issues.

no its something that has been happening for a while, with regards to the roll of media, what i do is put the on the back rail , put some of the roll pull through the clamps and line it up at front to print, i then sometimes press up and down on the printer controls to see if the media slipping over first half metre and then print, is that correct ? also i have never tried environmental mode , allways thought it was for after laminating

I feel I have something to say on THIS subject!
About a week ago I had a techie in, as usual I mentioned the lack of cutter/printer accuracy, which went with occasional random lighter bands in the lateral direction.
He left, as usual, without having fixed my problem.

    I finally had enough.

I called him back the next day, and said he had to stay until my problem was fixed.

After testing out a few things, he finally realised that my two end roller frames were cracked! Since I have had this problem for about five years, and I have had regular services every six months, it would seem that this is not something that techies necessarily look out for.

These two rollers are slightly conical, and have springs about twice as beefy as the inner rollers. They are essential to the correct tracking and cutting of the vinyl. the conical rollers pull the material flat.

Mine were barely holding the material onto the grit roller, and it could be shifted with a light tug.

Anyway, long story short, after two new rollers and a thousand dollars, I have finally been able to produce sparkling, clear, reliable prints, and the cutting is SPOT ON!

So. check those rollers! It just MIGHT have something to do with it!

    Simon.

Right here is where they crack. Specially the end ones because of the strength of the spring puts them under much greater pressure.
