  • Print & Cut – Upgrade or not ?

    Hi all

Please could we have some views from any of you out there who may have any experience of having had a versacamm sp540 and ‘upgraded’ to a soljet print and cut or cadet plus to grenadier print and cut. We have been made a tempting offer and would just like to know if there are any real advantages of going up to the next level machine.
The speed difference is a bonus and not a real factor for us. For us it would be the quality- our main work is vehicles, marketing and expos.
The soljet and grenadier have built in take ups where the versacam and cadet do not and when you factor this into the cost there is not a lot of difference in price.
Anyway would appreciate your views and knowledge on this.

    are you sure.

i run a soljet pro2 ex on the max inks and would not wish to change.

as i understand it the pro2 and grenader are almost twice as fast for the same quality as the 4 colour machines
    .
things to remember are there are 12 carts in these machines so holds twice as much ink and the extra colours do finer tones if thats what you want. but debatable if the customer will notice this.

    Thanks Chris

Yes Roland are now supplying the soljet with the take up as a package- when you consider adding the take up to the price of a versacamm plus as you say you are basically getting 3 times more ink in the deal 12 cartridges as opposed to 4 the price difference narrows.
Purely from a print quality point of view is it worth it?

    depends what you are outputting.
i think for general sign and van use 4 colour machines are fine but the 6 colour machines give that bit extra for photos and art stuff.

you mention being made a tempting offer on your versacamm. Is this an offer from a supplier on a trade in deal or a private one?

The reason I ask is I am thinking of upgrading from a cadet to a cadet plus. purely for the extra width – I am perfectly happy with the quaility and speed of the standard cadet. And I was just wondering if there was a special offer somewhere on a trade in.

    thanks

This is not for a trade in but purely as a purchase direct from the supplier,(Roland).
