    Hi
I put this post up earlier today and for some reason it was deleted! I am new to the site but am registered so I presume it’s ok for me to post something?
Anyway Heres my question, I have got to do a sky blue acrylic sign 1300x760x5mm with polished edges and 6 holes for fixing, has anybody got any idea about a price for this?? I have also got to apply 3 print and cut logo’s to the sign.
I am new to the sign trade but have been in the printing game for 17 years or so.
Anyone got any ideas for this newboy!

    Cheers Tony..

its hard to say, i cant help on the print side of things, but you should expect to double the cost of the sheet material, print usually has a metre rate,,

the only other way is to put less amrkup on the materials and charge an hourly rate,

    Hi Hugh,
Sign is about £130 all done and logo’s are approx. 100x100mm full colour with weeding, so not much vinyl just time really.
    i thought about £250??

Tony are you fitting the sign ? is it high ? can you do it safely on ladders ? or do you need a tower or cherry picker if you need either build it into the price just make sure you cover all the unforseens !!!

    Hi Lynn
I am not fitting the sign so my price will be just to supply the sign graphics applied an d send it down to London to be fitted by the customer.
The sign will have more company names added as the offices are filled.

as i say mate, i’m afraid i’m unsure when it comes to print prices, but 250 for 130’s worth isnt a bad profit, just depends on your overheads etc,

i’ve stopped adding labour now, unless its to cover expenses like hiring another bod for a day, or renting bigger ladders etc,

on boards i double the price (inc vat) and on regliar vinyls i x10 inc vat, that then includes my labour, rearely does it not, it saves estimating how long things will take, i’ve certainly found it easier to price with every new job, more confidence in telling the customer the cost too, just dont act like you think it’s a high price when ya tell em, if you think it really is too high, then throw in some visible discount,

very often i’ll offer three types of finsihed item, this may be using different materials or designs, make the prices vary from a more budget idea, to a high end product, they usually go for the middly one in my experience.

    good luck.

oh yeah, what lynn said !

Sounds a good method to me Hugh. The only real diff for me to u is the ink costs which on these logo’s will not b much and I work for myself from home s no major overheads, just the mortgage!!
    Cheers for help.
