• Pricing Help??

    Hello All,
please could I have some help with pricing. We have worked out our hourly rates including all of our overheads. i would like some help with general pricing of products. I have had a knock to the confidence and hence asking for help. we did 60 quotes in january and have not had any of them taken up, I do not know whether it is the state of the economy, (which has dived hard in jan in menorca) or whether we have added to much on our jobs. I know that markets vary and people can charge more in certain areas and not in others so there are a lots of different factors – i am just looking for ball park figures.

How much % do you put on top of:
    1. Pal light Foam
    2. Dibond
    3. Correx

What does you charge per metre for:
    1. 7 year vinyl
    2. 7 year printed vinyl + laminate
    3. Blue back poster paper
    4. Glossy photographic paper
    5. Banner material
    6. Canvas

I know different machines use different inks etc, and therefore have different costs but I just want to check that we are not way out on our figures. I am sorry this in in this section but i wanted to keep it out of the eyes of the public. i appreciate any answers and if people do not wish to answer, no problem!
    cheers
    dan

    Dan,

I fear that there is going to be a lot more people with your experience before this year is much older. Our competitors are finding the going getting tougher, and will cut their prices to get work, any work, in the door, if it makes a contribution to overheads.

Another symptom of hard times is companies who, a year ago, wouldn’t look at a job unless it was for a minimum of a hundred vans, suddenly becoming more interested in the one to five van jobs, and muscling in on the sector normally catered for by smaller signmakers.

We can only hope that they go broke before we do. 🙁

My, not religiously adhered to, rules are:-

Raw materials (dibond, vinyl, foamex etc) +100%
Finished products (sign boxes etc) +30% – to 50%

On top of that goes our normal hourly rate for the time it takes do our bit.
