The price it guide is just that, a guide.
It is worth buying as it gives an "average" price for common signage.
I normally do my own costings, but it is usefull to compare, it used to be free, but it now cost abut 25 quid or so,
not alot, as Paul Daniels says.
    I would recommend it.

    Hi

When I first got a copy I used to check what I was quoting against what is said in the book all the time. However, it was just a general interest thing really as the book price has no real influence on what my local competitors charge, or my personal cost base, or how keen I am for a particular piece of business etc. etc. etc. These days I don’t really check it any more, preferring instead to ask my customers what others had quoted them to build up a more relevant profile of local pricing and which competitors buy business or are on the high side etc.

    Cheers
    Macky

I have found it useful, but again as has been said before, you have to judge your market and the client. but as a "guide" to see if your in the ball park, after all it’s an average of costings, regards Graham

I’ve never referenced anything, pricing depends on your market, competition and where you are in the country. You could always squeeze that bit extra money for a better job, but generally customers seem to be more into price and time than quality these days. It’s also down to sort of money the competition wants, if your pricing is perfect, but they’ll work for buttons as they’ve no work on, no one wins. During the late 80s the prices you could get weren’t a million miles from what you can get now. But it’s swings and roundabouts, as cutters literally cost peanuts now and vinyls and foams are cheaper than 20yrs ago, but the cost of living from your profits has very much increased.
