Prat of the year 2009
Posted by graffica on 2 January 2009 at 13:06First job of the year. 30 Quad Bikes, 20 printed T-shirts and some window graphics.
No problems with T-shirts and window stuff.
The quad bikes had 4 pieces of vinyl with 4 lines of cut lettering on each one. Took ages to weed. When I came to apply them I realised I´d done them all in reverse.
As nobody on UK Signboards would ever make this kind of mistake, perhaps someone would care to second my nomination as PRAT of the YEAR 2009.Feliz año.

:lol1: :lol1: :lol1:
I’ve signed the a bus with the company name spelt wrong, while the owner was watching….. 10 years ago now…. but I still cringe at the embarrassment of it all…
Your mistake makes me feel a little better :lol1:

Chris I’m sure all of us have done similar although not this year yet 😀

To me, a prat (don’t use the term but I love it) is a total d!ckhead.
Sounds like you just made an honest mistake.
Don’t be so hard on yourself.
Love….Jill -
Im with Jill, we all make mistakes. Its how we deal with them that is the making of us. Chill….
sometimes I should take my own advice.
🙂 😕 🙂 -
rest assured you will not be top of the list for long 😀 another one will be along in a mo
the year is young 😉
and yes i could have done that but i would like to think that after starting to weed it i might have realised 😀 😀

i must admit i made and delivered 500 A5 signs with circuit spelt wrong, last week my 16 year old assistant made 2 signs no parking with the i missing out of parking, he wrapped them & i delivered them in ??????.
i use to work for a company in bridgend who owned a text recognition scan software called optocopy which when scanning had a knack of changing the word and to anal, we printed a 48 page book for l,oreal plagued with the word anal instead of and, they never ever noticed.
the best one though, i worked for a large printing company in merthyr tydfil where the boss use to let the bindery staff go after 16 weeks to avoid paying them holiday or sick pay entitlement, this stopped after 4,500 copies of boots christmas catelogue went out with 16 pages of busting out (pure filth) bound into the toys section.
i think he now employs staff on longer contracts. -
One of my regular customers Vivaro van graphics are stored on my PC. I cut the vinyl ready for fitting but had spelled "Refrigeration" as "Refigeration".
Bit of a nuisance but no big deal as I noticed while weeding and just re-cut it. However, I never saved the amendment and sure enough made the exact same mistake when I did the next van a few weeks later.

About 13 years ago I was putting up some window graphics at night. The lighting wasn’t much cop but I won’t use that as an excuse. Outside the shop was a Bus Stop with very nice young lady standing there watching as I professionally fitted the graphics. She kept smiling….I was single and gagging….I thought mmmmmm..I’m in here! She approached the window and tapped on the glass. I could just hear her say through the glass "It’s upside down!". Yes Jill… D!ckhead would be a good way to put it. 😳 😎

Showed up to plaster a house once,
realised I was a signmaker, halfway through the job when they refused to pay me and had me arrested. :lol1: -

The only mistake i have made this year is staying off with the kids whilst the wife works. They are driving me crackers, I can’t wait to go back to work for a rest and some peace.

Sorry Chris. Wrong.
You’ve got a long way to go yet if you want to compete with some of the masters. 😀
The "not saving amended files" one is a classic, and one we have done too many times.

Nop… I did that too. My first shop window.. I was so proud to get the lettering on nice and straight without any bubbles.. only to realise I had not cut it in reverse. It looked great inside the shop… not so great outside….
