It seems an awful long time since i’ve posted any work, have been very busy of late with a lot of mostly mundane work but, seeing others posting their work has prompted me to stick up a selection, a couple of interesting / challenging jobs in among this lot but, mostly everyday stuff!

    EDIT>>>>

    ok, bit of fun,

somewhere in these photo’s there is a spelling mistake, it was rectified the following day but is apparent in one or more of the photo’s, the first person to tell me what it is (god i hope there’s only one!) will have a bottle of plonk, red or white, sent to them!

    Hello Hugh,

nice work there, i was just wondering how did you get that vitara chevron kit sorted in the end, if you don’t mind me asking.

    Thanks,

    Liam

    HI Liam,

I made it last year (have done one or two previously), took photo’s, made a series of rectangles and applied them to the vehicle in a promo vinyl, then more photo’s and measurements where the handle panels needed fitting, made more templates to make sure it fitted the gaps properly, then made the real kit up, prob a process that takes about 4-6hrs, whole ambulance took about 5-6hrs to apply, some of the curves are a bit of a nightmare with reflective, especially when it was as warm as it was, prob 24°c, once it touched that was it, you’d delaminate it if you had to pull it off!

when doing the rear chevrons i just apply masking tape to where i want to go to, then apply one stripe at a time, soon gets done when you get into the swing of it!

    Thanks for the info,
i only asked as i read in another thread you were thinking of getting a kit made up. So it was good to see it turned out ok doing it this way. I have a couple of pick ups i need to do the chevrons on.

if it’s just tailgates then they’re pretty easy, just remember that reflective materials won’t often go over or around things, just cut it neatly and start again on the other side of the offending object.

    lol,

i’ve actually quoted for that shop, prob 2 yrs ago now, I so wanted to do the job (great idea for it) that i priced it the same as an updated replacement which meant they got a blinding deal, I’d’ve not made much if labour was considered but, it would’ve been a focal point for sure!

i’m just glad I ain’t the only one who makes mistakes like that :lol1:

We have started putting a pound on the shelf for each mistake, whoever makes the least mistakes takes the money at the end of the month. Amazing how a little competition can reduce mistakes 🙄

Just put a couple of quid in the next charity box you see mate 😉

    Cheers
