    Hi All

Had a email enquiry this afternoon to produce 10 banner stands for a company claiming to be Manchester based.
No phone numbers on their email and I cannot find a website.

They accepted our quote and asked us to send a pro-forma invoice with our bank account details.
I have asked them to send the artwork so we can view it for set-up purposes etc before we proceed.

Something didn’t smell right on this one. So I have called one of my contacts who are Manchester based sign company, apparently they quoted the same last week, email from the same person and are already producing the stands, monies have been paid into their account. The supposed client has said they paid to much, so can they have the difference refunded.
Not sure if this is a scam or not, but seems odd to me.

So if you get the same email, perhaps proceed with caution.

Without a doubt a scam. They will now ask for money back and rob you !
Usually it in the name of Reverend or Father.

I wouldn’t trust an email that had no contact details or a link to a website….unless I knew them. What does the email address say? Right click on the contact name, does that give any more info like company name? It should show a company name, mine shows 3d-signs.co.uk, if its just a generic email address I would avoid it myself as there are too many scams going on

Hi all it is a scam, I know because its just happened to us 🙁
ok the scam is they pay you direct in to your account, they then tell you they have over paid so they want some of the money back, they then get the first money taken back from your account. how. well, first payment is by a cheque but they pay it direct in to your account from there nearest bank, so it shows up on the statement as a payment, they then give you a different bank account number to pay the other payment back to them, they then bounce the first cheque. BOOOM your scammed,

I rang my bank at first to find out if it was a scam before I paid them back, they said no all looks good, so I paid them back, the following day I got a letter from the bank there cheque had bounced, so after a few heated phone calls with my bank, they have returned my money :smiles: and asked me to tell as many people as possible to stop them doing it.

Barclays Bank are the best 🙂
