    Not sure how many of you make number plates (including show plates) but there are a number of proposed changes being lined up by the DVLA which could impact on that business…if you would like to see the proposed changes or pass comment on the consultation paper please follow the link below.

    The text below is taken from a letter received from the DVLA outlining the consultation document.

    Consultation on changes to the Regulations of Number Plate Supply in the United Kingdom.

    The Road Safety Act 2006 contains the following provisions;

    Makes it an offence to sell number plates that do not comply with ‘The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001’

    Extends the Register of Number Plate Suppliers (RNPS) scheme currently in operation in England and Wales to Scotland and Northern Ireland.

    The Agency invites all interested parties to comment on the above provisions.

    The consultation paper is available via the Internet at http://www.dvla.gov.uk/consultations
    The deadline for responses is 25 September 2007
