Pop Up Gazebo? advice for a portable workshop please?

gazebos without sides dont even go there in bad weather you wont be able to keep them on this planet!!what peter is showing there is intresting but you need to be able to leave it up all the time and stop the wind getting under it. 😕 dont want to knock what your trying to do but in our climate its going to be tricky 🙂

Hi Peter. That looks interesting. I have found similar things the problem is with the height. The one I found had a door with a height of 2m and the max height inside was 1.8metres. It would be great to have it at 3m high!

Hi John, haha, I can see what you mean, the wind would rip it into outer space!

I guess there isn’t really a solution for temporary covers for vans, crazy since I thought every market was sown up!

Came across this post and thought I would add some other options now available, some example in the following videos.

for the record, I spent a fair bit of time researching and visiting companies that manufacture quickly to erect portable workshops. There are some very durable suitable ones out there. not ideal for every situation but time has passed and these get better and better…
I even visited a company that provides non-inflatable versions that are quick to erect with one person.
the company provides these to the emergency services as well as the army. not cheap, but affordable for people that may need to work long hours in multiple locations month to month…
the one i was interested in and had a demo of was heated, floodlit and pretty much airtight clean. it can withstand 80mph winds also… has to be because the ambulance services perform roadside assistance in car crash situations, so they erect tents over the car and work inside. same goes with the army… obviously, the videos show the more affordable ones, but still well worth considering if required.

i have used n 8m x 3m framed gala marquee to wrap a couple of vans, to compensate for the wind l had a couple of ratchet straps thrown over the top towards the ends with a couple of 25 litre drums full of water attached to the straps, and inside a drum attached to each corner post, even though it was pretty windy it stayed perfectly still!

Ive never in 24 years had a space to fit under cover and just always say i can fit weather permitting. In the winter months i tend to keep an eye on the weather and pick the best day in the week. i call the customer the evening before to discuss a time for the next day. Some will drop the vehicle in the morning and i will fit during the day in between showers, and call them when done. Alternatively most customers always know someone with a unit/garage or have premises themselves. Just add a little to the job if you have to travel to do on site.

When racing we’ve used all the pop up tents going, and all aren’t really strong enough.

The Gala Tent we use now is bang on, takes a bit of time to set up, but well worth it for the weekend. However, I could probably fit some jobs in the time it’d take to errect.

We also have a small MX-247 3×3 pop up, that’s great for keeping the sun off, and a doddle to get up… oh and cheap as chips

I had an inflatable tent for doing vehicles for a while.
It seemed like a good idea, but it turned out to be the biggest pain in the ass ever.
And the material weighs a ton.
