For the systems try Ultima 01536 511515 or Expolite (www.expolite.com).

There are some materials for solvent based machines coming out but we’ve not found a really good one yet and still print them on our Novajets. Roll-ups need a matched substrate and laminate otherwise they are prone to edge curl.

higgi i think most good banner materials will be fine with your cadet.
the stuff i used in this picture was done with banner material from b&p but i found it far too exspensive.. i now buy from europoint at a fraction of the cost as a group member.
there are many suppliers out there offering banner.. im still waiting on some samples/prices..

PVC banner material works with some roll-up systems but not all owing to it’s thickness. We have found that the thinner ‘stop-light’ type materials work best in these systems

Depending on the mechanism we either use banner or polyprop. Heres a tip when doing them , make the width a little smaller than recommend as if there is not enough clearance on the sides , it’s almost impossible to roll the thing up without one side stacking up Mostly these arent precision engineered things and they tend to skew to one side or another when rolling up.
Pop ups come in amy flavours , we tend to use a solution from snapper industries (prolly not in uk) which uses a top class mechanism and is pricey , about 40 quid. Another thing to look out for the pole , the telescoping ones suck as they tend to bend and the thing never stands up straight. Bear in mind you are dealing with a user here in terms of care and erection of the thing , so robust simple systems work best. We generally sell one for about 130 quid with the print , an 850 x 2.2m one.
There are cheaper systems without the roll up that work well too if price is an issue.

Sorry for highjacking an honorable thread!
But I needed to reply to Carrie! 😉
Actually, I find the Scottish Jeans-n-Riggers combo
sexier than actual nudity! I wish men around here wore ’em.
I must be daft from 19 years of paint fumes.

NOW, BACK TO BANNERS DAMMIT!!!! :police:

    love 😳 Jill

There is no material at the moment that will run through grenadier that will work with rollup or popup frames.

Most graphic houses are running waterbased inkjet through epson, encad or hp devices. Most print onto a range of media the most popular being opaljet by kentmere photographic.

Opaljet is being launched by kentmere for solvent printers we have been testing it for them on our grenadier and it looks good though the better result is off a JV3.

One of the problems we had with using pvc banner materials was the tracking issues Rodney describes – this doesn’t seem to happen with the stop-light types.

I’ve just found (this morning) a heavy weight textile for solvent printers that is being marketed as being intended for roll-ups. It comes from a firm in Sweden so we’ve just ordered a roll in to try on the JV3 and Seiko – will post the results when we’ve had chance to try it. It would be nice if it works as it wouldn’t require laminating.

    Cheers Mike…
No more new equipment being bought for a while and seeing as these are the first roll ups I have been asked for in 6 years dont think I will be relieving you of your machines…. :lol1:

What is the stop light stuff you are talking about???

    Shame, they are bargins!!!

Stop-light type materials are aluminium backed polyester with an ink-jet receptive coating on the front, the idea is they will roll-up but will still sit flat when in use and, as it is opaque, you won’t see a shadow of the pole through the banner. They are available in different thicknesses to suit the application eg 125mic for roll-ups, 300mic for pop-ups.

We get ours from Neshen but I’m sure most other suppliers have their own versions. As John said, Kentmere are testing one for solvent machines as is at least one other manufacturer that I am aware of.

    Cheers

We buy a version of Opal jet from Kentmere (we print using Ink Technology solvent ink on a Roland SC540EX) We can print and supply pop up banners @ £130 (matched you at last Rodney)
