    Hi Guys – my first posting here so be gentle with me.

    I tint cars for a living and I am thinking of getting a plotter. Maybe 48" or 60".

    The software I am contemplating using supports the following plotters.
    * Ana Graph 101 TF
    * Ana Graph 120 TF
    * Graphtec CE Series
    * Graphtec FC2230
    * Graphtec FC3600
    * Graphtec FC4200
    * Roland Camm-1 PRO Model CX-300, CX-400 and CX-500
    * Panther II

    I would prefer a second hand machine to keep costs reasonable but know nothing about plotters.

    What would you recommend? Are there any companies selling 2nd hand machines?

    Thanks

    Nick

    hi nick and welcome

    what software you thinking off cos just about any will do for designing window shapes.
    i dont know for sure but cutting window film on a plotter is not straight forward.

    some one on here must do it

    The software I am thinking of using is tint-tek

    It has a database of stored shapes of car windows, I will not be making my own templates if you like.

    i would go for a graphtec or roland cutter. i have both, i have 48" roland and 54" graphtec cutter.
    the best deal i have ever saw on a 60" cutter was by grafityp at this years signuk. i dont remember the make of it though, sorry 😕

    my only gripe about buying bigger than a 48" cutter is that is its very difficult to find vinyl that width. most suppliers now only hold 48" wide rolls.

    been goooogeling and see graphtec do a dedicated plotter.
    i thought at first that the film was cut all the way throu but it is the same as normal vinyl.
    a good knife and not much pressure seems the order of the day.
    it appears that they use extra pinch rollers cos the film backing is very thin and would properly buckle whilst being cut. especially on wide material.
    one thought thou is that the extra rollers should have variable pressure to stop marking the film. my old jx grahtec does that.

    Hi Nick
