    hi all,
Just out of curiosity, how often do you people change your plotter blades?
Upto now, I have been changing the blade when I don’t think its cutting as good as it should. I have just this minute changed the blade and I am amazed at how well it cuts!
I try and squeeze every penny out of each blade, but I am thinking it is false economy as I spend twice as long trying to weed.
does anyone measure how much work they put through the machine before changing blades?

    Depends what you’re cutting too.

If ‘normal’ vinyl it’ll last for AGES, if reflective – it’ll be blunt after a couple of runs. I trashed a perfectly good blade doing reflective on my own van! Just as well I always hold a spare…and keep all my duffers (never know 🙄 )

Mind you I’m only £15/20 for a new blade so I don’t need to make it last 6 months!

Mine lasted nearly a year cutting normal vinyl and flex but the second I started to cut some flock it went blunt in days 🙁

Clive, I must be thinking the same as you.

I try to squeeze out the last bit of performance out of my blades…then when you use a new one, wow what a difference!!!

I mainly use standard vinyls and my blades seam to last alot longer than most.

I just get fleeced into buying blades. Ok I bought one because I felt the machine needed one, then I ordered some pens to do some drawings the other day, I ordered 5, and they sent me a 30 degree blade. When I phoned up, they suggested it was easier to bill me for the blade and send the pens than for me to send the blade back! What can I use a 30 degree blade for? I usually go with 45 but I have 1 60 degree too. Come to think of it, what is a 60 for? I tend to use 45 all the time….nevermind, it’s a spare blade in my box! But I am tring to get the most from each blade as even £20 is quite a spend sometimes as I’m only starting up!

60 Degree blades are used to cut thicker materials such as flock if I am correct.

i change my blade ever 75metres of vinyl ranging from 3to 5 and 5 to 7 year vinyl. I usually buy 5 blades at a time and they are £60 including delivery. I used to keep them longer but the weeding was a nightmare
