OK i was fitting vinyl today on a van that had been in this cold weather today, i started to fit it around 3.30pm it was PROPA Cold, i wet the vinyl a bit with a spray but it wouldn’t stick very well, when i tried pulling the app tape off the vinyl came with it and wouldn’t stick down to the van.

    Any idea?

    Yes thats normal 🙁

you really shouldnt put vinyl down at less that 10 deg c
and certainy not with water, in cold weather.

You need to warm up the surface first or at least apply dry then give the vinyl a good going over with a heat gun

You could try Rapid prep 2, I saw a video once of them using it on glass and in the snow?

I fitted some vinyls today dry, then went over the whole lot with the heat gun after.

They seem to have stuck well.

More to do tomorrow, I hope the weather holds!

Might seem a daft question, but when you sprayed the water on… did it freeze? It was zero degrees here at that time yesterday and a spray/mist of water would not take long to form ice! 😮

Well I went out in the van at 3.45 and had to scrape the screen – and that’s in the South!

Certainly not vinyl fitting on a van weather.

I’ve got three minibuses lined up for the next couple of days. I think i might be calling the customer after this post to put them off till spring. – I’m indoors creating artwork and that’s where I’m staying. 🙂

Trouble is – I have loads of jobs on at the moment which are all coming to their conclusions and will all need installing. I guess the thermals and the thick gloves will have to come out of their hiding places and earn their keep.
