Of all the beautiful people on here you pick Harry!
Great work, isnt weeding it a pain though Peter?

Paul, weeding is very easy, I just do the cut with a border and the whole lot comes off in one piece

I used to have a bit of software called Photocut which would do that. It was DOS though, so no chance of getting it working today.
The image was made up of lines of varying thickness, a bit like the old 405 line black and white television sets. That way there were no small fiddly bits to weed, just grab hold of one end and pull the lines away. A matter of seconds.

I thought id have a play with this with a pic of my little girl this morning but can I buggery find woodcut in Corel X3.

Had a demo of VMP at one time and I’m pretty sure that had a program to do that sort of thing as well Peter, never actually tried doing it because you couldn’t cut from the Demo. I think Phill did a picture of his little girl a couple of years ago using Signlab as well.

You can take that picture down off the sitting room wall now Peter, I won’t be offended. 😀

Is this available as a plug in to the newer Corel versions?
i would love to have it back in as it is a very usefull addition to print vinyl. It used to be on Corel 8 i believe as OCR Trace.
Failing that does anyone know if there’s any standalone programs that can produce this effect from cut vinyl.Alex.

found this Alex

Yes i saw this a while ago Peter, I’ve used the demo but it seems only to allow me to save the default photocut file and not one i’ve imported to test. The sample file looks like it has lots of unwanted nodes which im not sure if the full version will allow to adjust??
I suppose the cheapest option is probably to buy CorelDraw 8 and just use OCR Trace, but that isn’t perfect either.Cheers

Hi Peter,
that looks really good, i had done a similar thing but with halftone dots, they were very hard to weed and the image wasn’t as clear as yours. What did you use to create yours? I went through this thread and couldn’t see weather you mentioned the software you used to create it?
Cheers

If so, Alex, it takes a bit of practice to get the best out of it, but worth the effort.

Thanks Peter,
Jon, how is this possible in flexi? I know there is a stripe feature, but i didn’t realise there was anything like this. I have been through the instructions and couldn’t find anything?
