pdf conversion help please
HI guys,
I have the following pdf which I need to bust apart for another rugby club ad board, toruble is, I can’t break it down, regardless of how I import. I can remove the reg marks etc but not break the rest.
I’m using corel X5 at the mo, so maybe an ai cs3 or earlier? cdr? etc.
I have asked the customer to get more, the designer or sign co have said it’s editable in AI, not in my cs3 trial it aint, I’ve emailed the designer direct but have had no response in three days!
i’ve roughly drawn the white outline (good enough for 50m viewing) but need the ‘carpets’ if nothing else.
help conversion would be appreciated.

Opened in CS5, saved as a CS2 AI file.
The banner was grouped, within a group 😕
Just ungrouped and pop onto its own layer for you.

Hi Hugh.
Try attached. Converted to illustrator ver 3.
You will need to play around a little with clipping masks/compounds.
Method I use in Illustrator CS4 for some PDF’s as follows:
1. New file.
2. Place File (make sure ‘Link is ticked in dialog box)
3. Object/Flatten Transparency (tick ‘convert all text to outlines’ good for when you dont have font installed).
4. Delete masks etc/ check re: compounded artwork etc. Will prob need to re-group etc as necessary.
5. Put feet up – have a beer.MArtin

Martin, I don’t have Illy so cannot put your directions to good use, but thank you anyways.

I did suggest to the customer that they request the pdf again but without the banner being grouped – as I suspected that to be the problem, so I could open using Corel X5. got the same pdf back saying it can be edited in illy!cheers chaps.

Will an EPS be better for you?
I can extract the logo for you, and save as EPS/PDF?
