Pcut630 – trouble setting knife and cutting
Posted by Rich Fereday on 18 January 2012 at 17:25Hi I was wondering if anyone could help?
I have a Pcut630 and am using signcut pro, although i have everything set up and the software is speaking to the plotter when cutting out heat press vinyl (apologies if this isn’t the correct name, I’m new to it all) I can’t seem to cut through the material? or it cuts to much and destroys it.
I’ve tired different pressures have set the knife blade to a recommended 1/2 thickness of a credit card. I would assume it’s something I’ve not got set up quite right?
Any help would be massively appreciated
Cheers
Rich

best if you say hello and introduce yourself in the say hello section
you should back off the pressure and gently increase it you only need to score the heatpress vinyl and remove the excess
leaving the required text or logo (in reverse)hope this helps

Have a look through the Pcut plotter section, lots of stuff in there on setting them up.

A few things, you did not mention type of vinyl, flock, glitter etc etc, they all require a different pressure, with the Pcut you would require a min of 110 for standard vinyl , but do a test cut first starting from 90 , also is it a new blade ?, I would also use a 60 degree blade for flock and a 45 degree blade for standard heat press vinyl, it is trial and error and a steep learning curve, the other thing is slow the speed way down. The thicker the material the higher the pressure required. good luck

Thanks very much for this, thought it might be a case of trial and error!!

Try getting some smart blades from Edward Mathias, they come preset, i use them in my 630 and find them great, no messing around trying to set them up, when they are blunt you send them back for replacements,
I use a press pressure of 100 upwards for standard vinyl.BC

forgot to mention try setting the cut speed to 50
gd luck

Thanks very much for this.
Sounds like a plan to me!!

Dear All
Thanks for the previous advice, the smart knife worked wonders!!
However, I’m now having problems with cutting, I’ve set the compensation, pressure and speed but am not getting consistent cut’s, the media doesn’t seem to be held in place tight enough, when cutting it "ruckles" up.
I’m cutting heat transfer vinyl.
I’ve unrolled the media, cut a section to use so it feeds through, but still can’t seem to resolve the problem.
Does anyone else with a pcut 630 have these problems or a solution (?)
Cheers

Don’t cut the material myself but from posts I have read on here some heat press vinyls require a 60 deg blade rather than a 45 deg blade. People have also mentioned that you need to slow the speed right down for cutting certain types. Placement of rollers is also important with any media your cutting.

if you can see the vinyl and backing lifting in places as the knife changes direction then, one of these
cutting strip has a sharp gouge in it.
knife blunt and too much pressure
cutting too deep you only need to cut the vinyl
the backing paper is sticking to the bed or the cutting strip so not slipping when under knife pressure (clean and polish)
pinch rollers positioned too far out to the edge. -

Thanks very much.
Yes the cutting strip does have a "cut mark" in it.
I’ll look to replace this.

if its a hard plastic type of strip you can wet and dry paper it smooth then put a strip of vinyl over it, as a temp repair.
