I bought No. 1 son a new Dell – W7 64 bit and a Netgear 311 V3 PCI wireless card. The computer will not take the card and with a bit of Googling have found that not only Netgear but other manufacturers are pretty negligent when it comes to 64 bit drivers for their products.

Does anybody here run Windows 7 64 bit with a PCI wireless card successfully – if so what was it and does it have a removable antenna ideally I would like to swap it for a larger one with a lead so I can move the antenna away from being close to a wall.

Thanks Luke, but you highlight what I mean, alot of the manufacturers do not have proper drivers for Win7 64 so you take a punt on how well it will work or not as the case maybe. I would have expected major manufacturers like Netgear etc to have correct drivers for their products soon after new OS come out. Windows 7 didn’t arrive as a surprise and not to have drivers when it is 6 months old is poor.
