Colour is a complex thing, what shows on your monitor, has nothing to do with the output, unless you have a calibrated system.
How have the files that you are printing been created?

All in Corel Draw 12.
I used to use RCC which gave better results as in the colour was closer, but the windows driver seems to give a faster output and definately cuts quicker. I have adjusted some of the colour corrrection setting in the windows driver and getting better results.

I dont know a lot about colour output, but I do know that if your monitor is not calibrated, then the colours from corel will print as they should be (if you use the correct profile) but your monitor is showing you the wrong colour.
to colour match on a simple level, you need to draw a square and fill it with a known colour, that you can compare physically,
Then print it, and adjust your screen so that it matches that colour.
Dont take this as specialist advice, Im sure someone else will describe better

There are a few ways to deal with this.

1. By the VersaCam hahaha
2. Play with the settings when the file is RIPPED to your RCC for Color CAM software. In the Job Properties there is a setting for color under the print tab. Try printing in CMY vs. CMYK. If you are printing a photo spot colors are not the answer. Spot printing is more for vector graphics as they are solid processed colors(unless they are halftones). Select the Absolute Colormetric option to print with CMY. You will notice that it is just as costly or more efficient printing than CMYK when printing photographs.
3. Convert your photo to RGB and bring it into your vector based program as such. Rip it as such and a processed print will be less dark as it is not a true representation of CMYK printing order.
