Posted by BostonSigns on 23 June 2004 at 07:33Hi,
Could any one give me help on the running costs of a PC60/600 looking for one as a backup are they worth while?
Cheers

Using Roland cartidges, running costs are 94p per colour per 250mm sq of print.
Therefore – To print a single spot colour running costs are £15 per sq metre.
To print full colour (CMY) costs are £45 per metre sq. or £60 per metre sq. (CMYK) – All assuming 100% coverage. These costs can be roughly halved if using aftermarket ribbons instead of Roland cartridges.
These are high running costs, but the machines are worthwhile for one off and smaller prints and labels. Larger prints are best “Bought in” as they can cost less this way than by printing on the colorcam.

If you use a PC60 without (no ribbon saver) , then here’s a strategy that can save a lot of ribbon
Lets say you were printiny 100 rows by 20 columns and there is a fair space between colors in the columns , the ribbon advances whether you print or not!!
The better way to print is column at a time, this way the ribbon advance is MUCH less and you can save up to 40-50%. -

Does the PC60 driver allow you to switch on ribbon saving.
I have not seen this in the driver I have. I know the PC600 driver allows this (-)
Would be a good help
