• PC-60 Help

    Hello everyone, I’m new here so please bear with me…

    My Dad has gone out and bought a Roland PC-60 and asked me to set it up for him, simple I thought, how wrong could I be!!

    I’ve currently loaded the drivers on both a Windows XP and a Windows 98 system, but get the same results which is the red & black print, but the blue and yellow don’t.

    I’m conversant with Coreldraw and have also tried it with the Flexisign software but still get the same results.

    Am I doing something stupid or do I need to get a service engineer out to this machine?

    Thanks in anticipation, Simon

    I forget allmost everything i ever knew about the pc60.
    Doesnt it come with Cyan,Magenta,Yellow,Black cartrideges.
    Dont the cartridges have ID numbers on them that the PC60 reads.
    Is there a setup in the driver that shows the ID number it is looking for.
    Does it match the id number on the cartridge?

    I notice there are Resin and Non Resin Ribbons
    Have you mixed them , as they have differant ID numbers.

    Does it look like the machine is trying to find the 2 ribbons and giving up. Or is it not even looking for them.
    Actually, i thought the machine Beeped if it couldnt find the ribbon.

    If you are printing in corel draw you must use the userinks pallette for the spot colours or create your own with the correct colour values below otherwise it will print in CMYK.
    The carts must have the correct barcodes on and they must be the PC-60 as the PC-600 uses different codes.

    Colour palette values

    Red = 255-0-0
    Green = 0-255-0
    Blue = 0-0-128
    Cyan = 0-255-255
    Magenta = 255-0-255
    Yellow = 255-255-0
    Orange = 255-128-0
    Black = 0-0-0
    White = 255-255-255
    Gold = 128-128-0
    Silver = 128-128-128

    to print in these colours you need to select from process cartridge
    C,M,Y,K – CR-MR Resin from drop down list
    and then go to special and select the colour cartridge required.

    Then UCR = Spot colour.
    Make sure that all colour cartridges have the correct barcode labels on.

    Cartridge codes for the PC-60 are

    Cyan = 15
    Magenta = 14
    Yellow = 13
    Black = 12

    Spot colours

    Black = 12
    Red = 21
    Blue = 22
    Green 23
    Orange = 20
    White = 10
    Met Gold = 8
    Met Silver = 11

    Hope this helps,
    Al.

    Hi Simon, an introduction with a bit of info about yourself might not go amiss and might perhaps get more answers.

    Hi Alex hope you are well. We must get together soon!

    Please forgive me for the lack of info, here goes…
    My name is Simon, I work in the IT industry in West Yorkshire, UK. I’m quite technically minded, however confess to know very little about the sign and banner industry. My Dad (David) bought this PC-60 machine a few weeks ago with a view to making signs for our shop windows and cars and van (he’s semi retired now and wants to treat it as a bit of a hobby from his office at home)
    I’ve been tasked with setting this kit up for him (in between doing my regular work) so I’m kind of trying to learn it as I go.
    Alex & Frank, thank you very much for that info, I’m going to try and apply some of that info this afternoon, I’ll let you know how I get on.
    Simon
