    Hi All!
I was told about a white or clear backed paper the other day that you print with an ink-jet printer and the backing material is trimmed by the ink. In other words, if you wanted a white backed decal you would put a thin line of ink around your artwork and the material breaks away at that line. Oh Yeah! It’s a water-slide product.
Does anyone have any idea what I’m talking about… or was this guy pulling my leg? :poke:
    Thanks,
    Keven

I do quite a few models with waterslide transfers, both supplied and printed by myself.

The supplied ones are printed by a bloke with an Alps printer, thermal heads same as the Roland pc600 etc, it can print white so you have to provide 2 print files or in my case I supply a coreldraw file with 2 layers.
First layer is printed with white and then the proper artwork is printed over the top.
These are used on coloured backgrounds.

The ones I print are do onto Lazertran water slide material and get done in my laser printer but can only be used on white backgrounds.

I’ve never used the white stuff as my decals are to intricate to cut out and I’ve never heard of the material your mate has told you about.
Not saying it’s not available but I’ve not heard of it and I’ve been doing this for 3 years now.
By the way the Lasertran is by far the best I’ve tried so far, I don’t know what my supplier uses though and he will not tell me surprisingly 🙂

Stephen, I use the Lasertrans stuff to, and I believe they have a white paper which you print as normal but any white area of print is left clear. When you wet this the clear areas go white so you can apply onto coloured backgrounds. Do you know if you can get waterslide paper for the Edge?

Sorry Kevin not heard of your mates stuff.

    Cheers

I make a ton of custom water-slide decals for people and was hoping I could find out about this paper my friend told me about. He hadn’t used it in over four years so he cannot recall the maker.

I do a lot of water slide decals. I have tried most products from this company, laser and inkjet.

I prefer the laser ones. If the background is light you can use clear without cutting the outline. If dark background you can use white backing. Instead of cutting the outline I colour the outside of the transfer to match the background object.
