pantone references

Hi Darryl
I have a pantone colour specifier which is basically a folder of swatches with the relavent numbers on. What I do is get the best match of Pantone colour swatch to vinyl and use that.
355C is near as damit MaCal 9849-36Pro (Bright Green) That is Mactac 9800 series vinyl, (the C is for coated or glossy which your vinyl is unless it is banner vinyl)
186C That’s more difficult as there are so many reds in the Mactac range but I think the 9859-04 (Tomato Red) is the closest.
294C Is close to 9839-11(Vivid Blue)

I can send you the swatches from the Pantone Specifier so you can match up your own vinyl, just let me know.

Don’t know if this helps but the three colours you nominate (using Adobe) I think equate to:

Pantone 186 = R216, G45, B57 or C0%, M91%,Y76%, K6%
Pantone 294 = R0, G110, B170 or C100%, M38%, Y0%, K15%
Pantone 355 = R0, G152, B101 or C100%, M0%, Y91%, K6%

I cannot readily identify RAL’s for the first and last hue but 5015 is pretty close to the green.

Oracal quote RAL numbers on their 651 colour chart but not on their 851. Aslan (from Doro-tape) quote RAL numbers on their C118 range. Can’t see any colour codes on any of the other vinyl supplier colour charts!

I think Ritrama do some vinyls which are Pantone matched I think. Try Application Tape company on 01706 633043, 184 is listed.

avery 900 series have a load of pantone matched vinyls.

Thanks for all the replies people. many suppliers can match 2, but the 3rd (green) is becoming a problem.

I just had a quick look at those refs and can find almost exact matches to all three no problem in the new avery 700 range which I use most of –
Bright Green 755-01
Delft Blue 795
Medium Red 726

Incidently I have just switched to using this range of vinyl and it seems very good to work with, weeds and applys like a cast vinyl almost, and I have got some great prices of Cox plastics for it 😀

I’m pretty sure Avery have had the PMS matched range out for a while John, I asked about it for a job but was told I had to buy loads (can’t remember how much exactly) of it and it was not a stock item 😕
