  • Pantone Colour to Vinyl colour Match help?

Posted by John Harding on April 7, 2005 at 4:14 pm

can any of you clever guys tell me how to find a vinyl to match the following – the illustrator file sais its Pantone 139U at 100% opacity and at 80% opacity ie two reasonably similar browns

is there a clever way? or do you just look through your supplier colour charts for a close visual match like I will if no one answers this post :lol1:

    Cheers in advance – John

There are pantone matched vinyls available, I am trying to think who supplies them………spandex was one I think. There was a thread about this the other day, have a look at the topics and I think you will find the info you need there.

Cox plastics are another one that supply pantone matched vinyl. The other thread was under the vinyls forum

Ring your avery supplier and they will tell you the closest 900 series supercast to the pantone colour, if they have one of course. They are pretty much the only company that specifically address the pms colour range with any real choice.

    Hi John

I have the same problem on a regular basis. As vinyls are so limited with their colour range I often find something close and send it through to the customer for a sign off. If the customer doesn’t like the colour I have been known to print & cut the colour via a digital printer.
Like Shane said Avery have match some of their vinyl colours to PMS colours.

    Cheers
    Paul
