Painting non standard colours
I constantly get customers wanting painted finishes to match Pantone, cmyk, rgb, etc, in fact anything other than standard RAL or BS.
What is the best way to get what they want. Suppliers don’t seem keen on anything unless it’s a ral reference which is very limiting.
I can print up vinyl and face some signs but I have a tray to make with push through stencilled illuminated letters, so it needs painting then fret cutting. Vinyls wouldn’t be an option. -

avery do pantone matched vinyls.
alternatively, give the tray to a powder coaters to match the colours.
also, remember and charge extra for the request. 😀 -
Thanks Robert. I get asked to match to all manner of things, cloth, business cards, "what it looks like on screen" etc. Bloomin’ customers.

Most good commercial paint shops can mix paints to match Pantone, but not all are available,
NCS is a good reference scheme for paints with a large range of colours -

Hollandlac Traditional Oil BillantI be honest, I had a look at paint when we were doing the SignUK project that some of u lot might remember, but paint was a bit of a problem as it would be down to how well pantone paint works externally. The Makers of the paint would be very nervous at giving life expectancy.

We paint our own panels sometimes, either use cellulose or 2 pack. Refinished a large ‘Ford’ sign which was made from copper with 2 pack & it as been fitted on a building at the edge of the Thames in the Dagenham plant & still looks as good as the day it went up, which was 4 years ago. That was matched to a swatch by the local auto paint store

We do the same Kevin, mainly MAxMeyer or deBeere 2k satin. They can match to 99% of pantone & Ncs as well as the usual. And tint to suit if required.
