    Hi,

I am about to airbrush another race car, this time I need to cut the lettering out on my plotter. I seem to remember a vinyl product that is produced for this. Any ideas what and where I can get it please?

Hi Jeff, most vinyl suppliers have it.

Mactac is MacMask translucent grey or white. I use the grey but be careful as it reacts to some types of solvents.

Metamark sell a blue translucent mask which has a more aggresive adhesive than grey macmask.

Thanks Neil… That’s great, using water based paint on this one. so no solvent!

Although this is designed to be removed I’ve found that the longer you leave it on the more chance of residue being left.

    I’d say no more than 4 – 6 hours.

It says max of 4hrs before residue may be left. Have you had a problem with this. I am doing a complex paint job, and will need to leave on for a few days!

I’ve not had problems using waterbased paints with grey mask. But have using solvent based.

I’ve also had problems removing the white when it’s been on more than 6 hours.

Also, I’ve had most problems on curtain sides.

I think you’ll be ok with the grey but couldn’t guarantee it 😕
